Head Coach Rose Magers-Powell
SUMMARY of PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
There has been a total of thirty-four years that encompass playing, coaching, and teaching volleyball. Ten years were spent playing and coaching professional volleyball in the Japan League with Daiei and NEC. Thirteen years included directing junior girls’ volleyball of which four years were at the high school level and thirteen years at the collegiate level. Being selected on the US Olympic Volleyball Team after only training two years was followed by being recognized as the most improved player at the ‘84 Olympic Games. Achieving the starting setter position at 6’3” with a background in setting as well as hitting for University of Houston and Louisiana State University, playing at the national and international levels, and learning under the top coaches in the United States and Japan provided me the necessary skills and experience to be a successful coach at both the high school and the collegiate levels.
